TEVDesign ChainHelper is the world’s first complete solution designed to permanently eliminate one of boating’s most frustrating problems — anchor chain piling up beneath the winch.

Using a unique and innovative design based on the simple mechanical principle of a wheel, combined with the proven advantages of a chain gypsy, ChainHelper guides the chain smoothly and efficiently into the locker without jams, overload, or constant manual handling.

Just smooth, reliable operation every time you pull anchor.

Delivered as a complete system with all necessary components included, ChainHelper is engineered to adapt to almost any boat installation. Already successfully installed on boats from 32 to 50 feet, the system has consistently solved the same annoying problem for boat owners who want a safer, easier, and more reliable anchoring experience.

Why boat owners choose ChainHelper:

The ChainHelper- The way it works!

ChainHelper – How it works

ChainHelper is a roller-based system with a double gypsy mounted on an articulated arm. This design ensures that chain tension is never transferred directly to the gypsy, resulting in smooth, controlled, and reliable operation.

The chain coming from beneath the windlass is guided up and over the second gypsy. As the chain is hauled in, it drives the double gypsy and shifts the chain’s laydown point forward inside the anchor locker.

A key advantage is perfectly synchronized movement – the chain is handled link by link, moving at the exact same speed as it is retrieved. This keeps the loop length constant and ensures consistent, controlled stowage every time.

How it’s made

The hinge bolt, bracket, and arm are made from high-grade stainless steel for strength and corrosion resistance. All other components are 3D-printed, purpose-designed for additive manufacturing. Each material is carefully selected, tested, and optimized for demanding marine environments.

The ChainHelper QuickHinge

is engineered specifically for vessels where space in the anchor locker is limited — especially above the incoming chain near the winch. On many boats, the clearance between the chain and the closed anchor locker lid is too tight for a permanently mounted ChainHelper wheel.

That challenge inspired one of the most important innovations in the ChainHelper system: the QuickHinge.

Designed for speed, simplicity, and convenience, the QuickHinge allows the ChainHelper to be mounted or removed in seconds. When getting ready to pull anchor, the system is quickly put in place — and just as easily removed when not in use.

Instead of the time-consuming and physically demanding task of manually laying out the chain, the QuickHinge makes chain management effortless and efficient. Its user-friendly design ensures that deploying the ChainHelper becomes a smooth and natural part of your anchoring routine.

Key Benefits:

-Fast and easy mounting/unmounting

-Ideal for vessels with limited anchor locker clearance

-Saves time and reduces manual work

-Improves safety and chain handling efficiency

-Built for practical everyday use at sea

-With the ChainHelper QuickHinge, even the tightest anchor locker installations can benefit from the advantages of the ChainHelper

Installing the ChainHelper

is quick, simple, and requires only basic tools and standard supplies. Designed with practical onboard installation in mind, the system can be fitted with minimal effort — saving you both time and costly yard work.

In the video below, you’ll see how easily the ChainHelper is installed on a Hanse 400, giving you a clear step-by-step demonstration of how this smart solution transforms anchor chain management onboard.

Experience a cleaner, safer, and more efficient anchoring routine — with ChainHelper.
